Gosforth
Trinity Musical Society (formerly the Gosforth Presbyterian Musical
Society and
the Gosforth United Reformed Church Musical Society) was formed in
1929, and
has produced at least one show a year since then (excepting the war
years
1940-1944).
We produce
two shows a year: a main show in April, which is fully staged and
costumed,
with a full orchestra, and a smaller concert in November. We rehearse
from
September until April, with the chorus meeting on Monday nights from
7.30 - 9.30pm, with a tea break in the middle! Principals have
additional rehearsals on Wednesday nights, also 7.30 - 9.30pm.
Currently,
we
rehearse at the Christian Community Centre on Freeman Road (down the
hill from
the Freeman Hospital). Our main show will be in the new theatre at the
Royal
Grammar School in Jesmond, while our concerts have been presented at a
number
of different venues in Gosforth and Forest Hall.
As you can
see from the list of previous
productions, we have
largely produced Gilbert & Sullivan operas as our main show,
although
tending to diversify in our annual concerts. As a consequence of a
concert of
Edwardian Musicals in 1996, we have recently presented
The Arcadians, The Geisha and
The Quaker Girl.
If you are

of previous
experience), please contact our secretary June Hurst on 0191 258 6910
or e-mail
us on GTMS@blueyonder.co.uk.
You can
also e-mail the Website manager, Fraser Charlton, at fraser.charlton@ncl.ac.uk.
Stage
crew are always required, as are orchestral members.
